`Mine are for recreation but can also be used in the defensive role if the need should arise.

Guns ignite strong emotionns in almost everyone, whether they are for or against them. Too many of those opposed to gun ownership get their information from the media, which is dominated by left wing, anti-gun types. Their opinions are based on misinformation. Reporters only talk about the bad instances, and not the millions of people who practice responsible gun ownership on a daily basis.
Anti-gun advocates would like for us all to turn in our guns, but the problem is that a large percentage of guns used in crimes are obtained by those criminals through illegal means, and if a criminal isn't going to obey a law that says you are not allowed to break into someone's house and steal their guns, they probably aren't going to obey a law that says they have to turn in their guns to the authorities.
